Trace Adkins nails down tour details

His new album just hit the streets and Trace Adkins has revealed the details of his upcoming tour to support it.

The country star will launch his 2008 American Man tour Jan. 24 in Bangor, ME, and visit US cities throughout the East Coast and Midwest through mid-March, stopping in Ontario along the way. Tickets go on sale to the general public beginning Friday (12/7).

Comedian Bill Engvall and rising country singers Luke Bryan, Jason Michael Carroll, Bucky Covington and Kellie Pickler will be among the opening acts on select shows.

Meanwhile, Adkins is finishing out 2007 with several performances, including a three-night stand in Las Vegas that starts tomorrow (12/6). He also has a couple of spring shows scheduled beyond the American Man tour. His full itinerary is listed below.

Adkins' new album, "American Man, Greatest Hits Volume II," features three new songs, including lead single "I Got My Game On," which has been on Billboard's Hot Country Songs chart for the past 15 weeks. The tune and its video are streaming at the singer's MySpace page.

Adkins is also promoting his new book, "A Personal Standard: Observations and Opinions from a Free-Thinking Roughneck," which offers his thoughts on politics, fame, parenting and personal responsibility. He wrote the book to answer frequent questions he receives about his political views.

"I don't believe the stage is the place to espouse those views," he said in an article posted at his website.

Fans can also catch the singer on NBC's "Celebrity Apprentice," which premieres Jan. 3. Adkins participated in the show to raise money for the Food Allergy Anaphylaxis Network because one of his daughters suffers from severe food allergies.

During his 11-plus-year career, Adkins has sold more than 7 million albums and scored 23 hit singles, according to his MySpace page. His most recent set, last year's "Dangerous Man," debuted at No. 1 on Billboard's Top Country Albums chart and spawned the No. 1 hit "Ladies Love Country Boys."
