Spice Girls plan more North American shows
The Spice Girls ' tour, which was originally planned as a relatively short farewell jaunt, continues to expand, and now there's talk of making the reunion more permanent.
The world tour kicked off this week with a sold-out show in Vancouver and will continue tomorrow (12/7) with a second night in Los Angeles followed by three nights in Las Vegas. After a run of European shows that includes a 17-night stand at London's O2 arena, the Spice Girls will return to North America in late January for a second leg.
Since last check, dates have been added in Boston, Montreal, Chicago, New York City, Philadelphia, Atlantic City, Washington, DC, and Auburn Hills, MI. A third show was also added in Toronto. Two-night stands were previously announced in Uniondale, NY, and Newark, NJ. Details are listed below.
The Girls also plan to visit Shanghai, Beijing, Hong Kong, Sydney, Cape Town and Buenos Aires. Information about overseas dates can be found at their website.
In conjunction with the tour, the quintet released "Spice Girls: Greatest Hits," which is currently available through Victoria's Secret and will go on sale nationwide Jan. 15. The set includes the new track "Voodoo" as well as the group's current single, "Headlines (Friendship Never Ends)," which is the official 2007 Children in Need Christmas charity song in the UK.
The reunion brings Victoria "Posh" Beckham, Mel "Scary" Brown, Emma "Baby" Bunton, Melanie "Sporty" Chisholm and Geri "Ginger" Halliwell back together for the first time in six years. Halliwell left the group in 1998 and the remaining members parted ways in 2001.
Though the tour has been billed as the group's final bow, Bunton recently said the ladies haven't ruled out a more permanent reunion.
"As long as our fans want us to do shows, then we'll be there for them," she told Reuters, but added that things are more complicated now that most of the women have children.
