B.B. King shows no signs of slowing down
Blues legend B.B. King has once again extended his relentless touring schedule, with US dates now booked through next summer.
The 82-year-old performer, who's been on the road since last year, has added more than 30 dates to his itinerary since last check. In addition to sprinkling more gigs into his previously announced run, King has tacked on another leg of shows that covers April, May and a couple of days in June. Details are listed below.
Despite his decision to forgo touring abroad after 2006, King obviously shows no signs of slowing his incessant touring ethic in North America.
The Rock and Roll Hall of Famer has released more than 50 albums during his career, including 2005's "80," which marked his landmark birthday. The collection of duets won a Grammy for Best Traditional Blues Album.
Earlier this year, King put out the "Standing Room Only" DVD, which captures a live show recorded at the Trump Marina Hotel in Atlantic City. He also appears on the recently released "Crossroads Guitar Festival 2007" DVD set, which was filmed at Chicago's Toyota Park last summer.
The blues icon has 15 Grammys on his mantel, including a lifetime achievement award. He's also been honored with the Presidential Medal of Freedom and was given an honorary doctor of music degree from Providence, RI's Brown University earlier this year.
Next summer, King's hometown of Indianola, MS, is scheduled to open a $10 million museum in his honor.
