Steve Earle earns two Grammy nods, maps 2008 tour
Fresh off of nabbing a pair of Grammy nods, Steve Earle looks to continue supporting his latest album, September's "Washington Square Serenade," with an early 2008 trek.
The veteran roots rocker scored a nomination in the Best Contemporary Folk/Americana Album category when the Grammy considerations were announced last week, and was nominated along with his wife, Allison Moorer , in the Best Country Collaboration With Vocals category for their duet "Days Aren't Long Enough," from Earle's newest studio set.
Earle--who is currently in a Nashville studio producing Joan Baez's new album, according to a press release--will kick off his 2008 run Feb. 28 in Northampton, MA. The 16-date tour hits several Canadian venues, crossing back and forth across the border several times through its three-week run, which winds down in the Pacific Northwest. Dates are below.
"Washington Square Serenade," produced by John King of the Dust Brothers (Beck, Beastie Boys), is Earle's first album since 2004's Grammy-winning "The Revolution Starts Now." The set, which hit stores Sept. 25, is Earle's first effort for the New West label.
A new music video for the album's first single, "City of Immigrants," was recently shot and will be released this month, according to a press release. The video features Moorer, as well as the members of New York City-based Brazilian pop band Forro In The Dark, who also appear on the album.
