Dierks Bentley rides 'Free and Easy' into 2008
Country singer Dierks Bentley is taking a break from a relentless touring schedule that's kept him on the road since summer, but he's already starting to assemble dates for 2008.
So far, the next leg of his "Throttle Wide Open" trek has Bentley playing February/March gigs in Florida, Georgia, Illinois and Ontario. Newcomers Bucky Covington and Luke Bryan will hold down the opening slots.
Bentley has also been tapped to play May's Stagecoach Country Music Festival in Indio, CA. His full itinerary is listed below.
The singer/songwriter/guitarist is still riding high on the success of last year's "Long Trip Alone," which just nabbed several Grammy nominations. The record is up for Best Country Album and the title track is vying for Best Male Country Vocal Performance and Best Country Song. Bentley also scored a nod in the "Best Long Form Video" category for his concert DVD, "Live & Loud at the Fillmore," which surfaced in March.
"Long Trip Alone" has spawned hit songs "Every Mile a Memory," the title track, and "Free and Easy (Down the Road I Go)," which recently became Bentley's fifth No. 1 single. The album's next radio offering, "Trying to Stop Your Leaving," is due for release next month. All of the singles are streaming at Bentley's MySpace page.
The singer is scheduled to perform his recent hits, as well as those from his first two platinum-selling albums, on the Jan. 26 episode of PBS-TV's "Austin City Limits."
