Buckcherry set for 300th show behind 'Fifteen'

To call Buckcherry "road warriors" is an understatement. The rockers will celebrate their 300th show in support of their third project, "Fifteen," with a show Saturday (12/15) at Las Vegas' House of Blues.

"We want to make it a special evening," guitarist Keith Nelson said during an interview with LiveDaily. "I can't think of a better place to have a celebration than Las Vegas. It worked out really well. There might be a few surprises. I don't really want to say too much. We're really fortunate that we got to our 300th show. We know what a long shot it is. A lot of bands work as much as we have. We don't take it for granted, so we're going to have a good time."

The tour began in August 2005, eight months before "Fifteen" was released by the label Eleven Seven. Atlantic Records inked a deal with Eleven Seven and put its imprint on the album in May 2006.

"I'm not really tired at all of playing the songs from 'Fifteen,'" Nelson said. "The response has been so great that the songs have really weathered well on the road. This hasn't been a drag at all. The nicest thing about having three records to draw from is that we have a lot of different songs that we can play. We have a lot of choices. We mix it up every night. We never do the same thing twice. We've kept it really interesting for ourselves."

It's been a particularly interesting 27 months for Buckcherry. "Fifteen," which is approaching platinum status, has produced five singles, including the Grammy-nominated "Crazy Bitch" and the latest, "Sorry." And "Fifteen" spent 85 weeks on The Billboard 200 album chart. Nelson said he's thrilled the album has such staying power.

"It's just a testament to all the people we're involved with who haven't allowed the record to die, and the fans for keeping the record alive. It's all worked out so great."

For the past month, Nelson and the rest of Buckcherry--vocalist Josh Todd, guitarist Stevie D., bassist Jimmy Ashhurst and drummer Xavier Muriel--have been writing new material. However, the road is where they really belong, Nelson explained.

"We've been making demos and working hard on some new material. We're kind of itching to get out and play more shows, so playing in Vegas for our 300th show is going to be a lot of fun," he said. "We're a live band. We thrive on that. It's what we enjoy the most, I think. After being on the road for two years, being home is the exception, not the rule."
