RBD reschedules US tour
Mexican soap-stars-turned-pop-group RBD will be back in the US next year to make up a slate of shows they postponed in October.
The sextet will start with a few Texas dates in mid-February and then launch a coast-to-coast tour beginning March 1 in Las Vegas. Details are listed below. RBD is also planning tours of South America, Mexico and Spain, according to its website.
According to the site, fans who bought tickets to postponed shows in Phoenix, Dallas, Los Angeles, San Diego or San Jose, CA, should get a refund at the point of purchase and buy new tickets. Those who hold passes for Miami, Bakersfield, CA, or Tucson, AZ, can make an exchange at the concert venue. Dates in the California towns of Fresno and Sacramento have been canceled; ticketholders should obtain a refund from the place of purchase.
Upon postponing the tour, the members of RBD issued a press releasing saying they needed time to work their new songs into their set and promote the US debut of their television sitcom "RBD: La Familia" on the Univision network.
In November, the group released its fourth Spanish-language album, "Empezar desde Cero," which shot to No. 1 on Billboard's Top Latin Albums chart and spawned hit single "Inalcanzable." The set, produced by Carlos Lara and Armando Avila, marks the first time that RBD members contributed to songwriting and the first time that each singer performs as a soloist.
The new album follows RBD's English-language debut, "Rebels," which surfaced a year ago and topped Latin charts in the US as well as charts in Mexico, Brazil and Chile.
RBD started as a fictional band on the Televisa network show "Rebelde." The members--Anahi, Dulce, Maite, Poncho, Christopher and Christian--portrayed students at an elite boarding school in Mexico City who rebelled against their aristocratic classmates by starting a band.
When it wrapped in 2005, "Rebelde" was Mexico's longest-running soap opera with 440 episodes logged. Reruns continue to air in the United States, Asia, Indonesia and a dozen other countries.
