Warped Tour reveals first list of names for 2008 run
Every Time I Die , Relient K , and The Academy Is... highlight an initial list of acts released by organizers of next summer's 14th annual Vans Warped Tour .
Other names included in the first batch of confirmed performers are Gym Class Heroes , The Briggs , TheBronx, From First to Last, The Street Dogs, Reel Big Fish , Norma Jean , We the Kings, The Devil Wears Prada , Pierce the Veil, The Color Fred, 3Oh!3, The Lordz, Katy Perry, Shw, and Gym Claayze.
"In continuation of last year, we're striving to have a diverse line up that includes a little of everything while still catering to our core fan," read a posting from organizers on the event's official website, which also confirmed that bands signed on for the currently released bill will be on board for all of Warped's 2008 shows.
Based on previous years' Warped Tour rollouts, fans can expect several more rounds of performer announcements before the tour kicks off next summer.
No dates have been announced for next year's edition of what organizers claim is America's longest-running touring festival, but past versions have traditionally launched in late June. Last year's Warped Tour, featuring more than 12 stages, hit 50 cities around the country with a lineup that included Coheed and Cambria, Sum 41, Hawthorne Heights and more than 100 other acts.
The tour was created in 1994 by event promoter and Lollapalooza veteran Kevin Lyman, who had previously worked on several earlier shows that combined skateboarding and music.
