Emery headlines US outing

Alt-rock/hardcore outfit Emery is set to launch an extensive tour next month, marking its first US headlining trek in two years.

The band will start Jan. 29 in Nashville and play more than 45 dates all over the country through late March. Rockers Mayday Parade, As Cities Burn, Pierce the Veil, and Cry of the Afflicted will provide support. The itinerary is listed below.

Emery is supporting its third album, "I'm Only A Man," which surfaced in October. The set, produced by Ryan Boesch (The Cure, Foo Fighters), also comes in a special-edition version with five exclusive audio tracks and a bonus DVD with a "making of" documentary, a live show, and live acoustic performances of more than 13 songs.

The new record was inspired by an array of influences, including classic rock, soul and indie rock.

"Some of the songs on this album might encourage our fans to dance along and embrace the hooks, but if you check out our lyrics, some of them are just heart crushing," Emery vocalist/bassist Toby Morell said in a statement. "We knew we were doing something different, but we didn't go too far. We didn't leave ourselves."

Several tunes from the set, including lead single "The Party Song," are streaming at Emery's website and MySpace page.

The band members--co-frontmen Morell and Devin Shelton, guitarist/vocalist Matt Carter, keyboardist/vocalist Josh Head and drummer Dave Powell--started the band in their home state of South Carolina and then moved to Seattle. They have since spread out across the country, with two members living in Seattle, one in Illinois, one in Indiana and one in South Carolina. They gathered in a Charleston, SC-area beach house last year to assemble songs for "I'm Only A Man."

The set follows 2004's "The Weak's End" and 2005's "The Question," which have sold more than 250,000 copies combined, according to a press release.
