Velvet Revolver maps trek into spring
The band, which has been touring North America since August, has booked 11 more US dates beginning Jan. 24 in Chicago. The trek will visit clubs and theaters in the Midwest and on the West Coast through Feb. 9, after which time Velvet Revolver will make up canceled dates in Australia and then head to Europe for a three-week jaunt. US shows are included below; overseas gigs are listed at VR's website.
The group--comprising former Stone Temple Pilots singer Scott Weiland; former Guns N' Roses members Slash (guitar), Duff McKagan (bass) and Matt Sorum (drums); and former Wasted Youth guitarist Dave Kushner--is keeping the momentum going behind its July release, "Libertad," which debuted at No. 5 on The Billboard 200.
The album has spawned mainstream- and modern-rock hits "She Builds Quick Machines" and "The Last Fight," which are streaming at Velvet Revolver's MySpace page. Fans recently voted on the next single, which will be "Get Out the Door," according to VR's website.
"Libertad," produced by Brendan O'Brien (Stone Temple Pilots), follows 2004's "Contraband," which shot to No. 1 on The Billboard 200 and won a Grammy Award for the lead track, "Slither."
Slash recently told LiveDaily that Velvet Revolver is already putting ideas together for its next album.
