New York Dolls continue comeback with new dates

Punk rock progenitors the New York Dolls will be back on the road in early 2008 to support their 2006 comeback album, "One Day It Will Please Us to Remember Even This."

The fun gets underway Feb. 12 in Baltimore, the first of 19 dates on the group's current calendar. The outing represents the band's first significant roadwork since a run through Australia and New Zealand early in 2007 centered on the Dolls' appearance at Sydney, Australia's version of the multi-nation V Festival, appearing on a bill that also featured The Pixies, Beck, Gnarls Barkley and others.

The Dolls' lineup features two members of the original group, frontman David Johansen and guitarist Sylvain Sylvain, rounded out by Steve Conte (guitar), Sami Yaffa (bass), Brian Delaney (drums) and Brian Koonin (keyboards). Founding member Arthur "Killer" Kane died in 2005.

"One Day It Will Please Us" was recorded last year with producer Jack Douglas (Aerosmith, Cheap Trick) behind the boards. The band signed a record deal with metal-oriented Roadrunner Records last July.

A 45-minute "making of" DVD, "On the Lip," documenting the Dolls' comeback effort and recording process, was included with early pressings of the album. Several clips from the video can still be viewed at the band's website.
