Dates finalized for Def Leppard, Styx, REO Speedwagon
The full itinerary is in for the spring North American jaunt featuring classic rockers Def Leppard , Styx and REO Speedwagon .
As previously announced, the 19-date tour is scheduled to launch March 27 in Greensboro, NC, and the bands will stop in US cities from coast to coast as well as a few Canadian provinces through late April. Details are listed below. Tickets go on sale beginning Friday (1/11).
Def Leppard, billed as the headliner, is coming off a year of sold-out arena performances across the US and will continue to tour the world throughout 2008, according to a press release. The band is currently working on its 12th studio album, which promises a special collaboration. Further details, including a release date, are expected shortly.
The rockers' latest set, 2006's "Yeah," is a tribute to some of their heroes, including The Kinks, Badfinger and David Bowie. The video for their version of David Essex's "Rock On" made it into the Top 10 on VH1.
Def Leppard is one of only a few rock acts who have earned two prestigious Diamond Awards, signifying sales of 10 million copies. The band scored the honor with 1983's "Pyromania" and 1987's "Hysteria."
Styx has its own set of US dates leading up to the triple-bill tour. The band will focus on the East Coast and West Coast during a monthlong trek that begins Jan. 18 in Duluth, GA. Details are available at Styx's website. The group's latest release is 2006's "One With Everything," a live CD/DVD set that captures Styx performing its hit songs with The Contemporary Youth Orchestra of Cleveland.
REO Speedwagon, which also has a few of its own dates listed at its website, continues to support April's "Find Your Own Way Home," the band's first collection of new material in more than a decade.
