Ghostland Observatory lines up headline shows behind new album

Texas dance-rock act Ghostland Observatory kicks off a headlining tour next month ahead of the release of its third studio effort, "Robotique Majestique."

The electronic duo--frontman Aaron Behrens and synth operator Thomas Turner--kicks off the trek in its hometown with a Feb. 29 show in Austin, TX, before moving on to a March 8 slot at southern Florida's Langerado music festival following the album's release.

The nine-city outing finishes in April with a West Coast run; dates are below.

"Robotique Majestique," the duo's third studio album, will be released March 4, and follows up on the outfit's 2006 effort, "Paparazzi Lightning." As with Ghostland Observatory's previous two albums, the do-it-yourself pair will self-release the disc on their own label, Trashy Moped Recordings.

"We listened to what some major labels offered us in the spring, and there wasn't much of a difference between what they could offer and what we can offer ourselves," Turner, who produced "Robotique Majestique," told the Dallas Morning News in December.

"On the road, we're self-sufficient. We're not interested in videos; people can type in Ghostland Observatory on YouTube and see videos that fans have made. We don't need a bus."
