Gavin DeGraw goes out ahead of new album

Singer/songwriter Gavin DeGraw expects to have his long-awaited sophomore set ready to roll this spring, and he'll likely preview some of his new material during an upcoming US tour.

DeGraw currently has 10 dates booked across the country, starting Feb. 26 in Gainsville, FL, and reaching the West Coast by mid-March. Details are listed below.

The singer/pianist/guitarist dropped his platinum-selling debut album, "Chariot," in 2003 and then re-released the set the following year with a bonus CD comprising acoustic versions of the songs. "Chariot" spawned hit singles including the title track and "I Don't Want to Be," which became the theme song for the WB television drama "One Tree Hill."

DeGraw's recording success combined with his constant touring shot him to headlining status and made him a fixture on the TV talk-show circuit, with appearances on "The Late Show with David Letterman," "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno," "Good Morning America" and "The Ellen DeGeneres Show," among others, according to his website.

DeGraw's self-titled follow-up, helmed by Grammy-nominated producer Howard Benson (Daughtry, My Chemical Romance), is scheduled to arrive this spring, though no specific date has been announced. The performer recently described his new material as "moving in a much more rock direction," according to Billboard.

The lead single, "In Love with a Girl," is expected to hit radio before month's end, the magazine said.
