Toby Keith's 'Big Dog' creeps out of the gate
Dates continue to trickle in for Toby Keith 's 2008 "Big Dog Daddy Tour," which is scheduled to launch next month.
The outing gets under way Feb. 14 in Portland, ME, and sticks to the East Coast through early March. Since last check, a stop has been added in Baltimore and Keith has been tapped to play Houston's annual Rodeo and Livestock Show. His itinerary then skips to August and September, with shows booked in Indianapolis, Atlanta and Virginia Beach, VA. Details are listed below.
Keith is continuing the push behind June's "Big Dog Daddy," his third album to debut at the top of The Billboard 200. The set has spawned the fastest-rising single of his career, "High Maintenance Woman," as well as the hit "Love Me If You Can."
Over the holidays, the country star embarked on a media blitz to promote his November release, "A Classic Christmas," which includes one disc of holiday favorites and one of spiritual standards.
In his spare time, Keith is helping to push the American Horse Slaughter Prevention Act, which would ban the transport of American horses across US borders for the purpose of slaughter.
"When my friend, Willie Nelson , asked me to join him, his family, and the Animal Welfare Institute (AWI) in the fight against the slaughter of American horses for human consumption overseas, I said 'Absolutely, count me in,'" the singer explained in a posting at his website, adding that he keeps as many as 200 horses at a time at his family ranch.
Speaking of Willie and horses, Keith is getting ready to start shooting his next film project, "Beer for My Horses," which was inspired by the Keith/Nelson duet of the same name. Rodney Carrington, Ted Nugent and Mel Tillis are expected to appear in the flick alongside Keith and Nelson, according to reports.
