Hellyeah goes out for more, more, more

Heavy metal supergroup Hellyeah kicked off the second leg of its US trek over the weekend with Machinehead, Nonpoint and Bury Your Dead supporting.

The "More Balls, More Volume, More Strength Tour," which is set to visit US clubs and theaters from coast to coast through early March, continues tomorrow (1/29) in Charleston, SC. The full itinerary is listed below.

While on the road, Hellyeah guitarist Tom Maxwell will update fans with real-time broadcasts from his mobile phone via Kyte.tv. The diary is streaming at the band's website and MySpace page.

Hellyeah has turned out to be a serious side project for the hard rockin' members of the group--Maxwell of Nothingface, vocalist Chad Gray and guitarist Greg Tribbett of Mudvayne, Pantera/Damageplan drummer Vinnie Paul Abbott and Damageplan bassist Bob Zilla. Last fall, they supported Korn before diving into a nearly 30-city headlining run that wrapped last month.

The band is supporting its self-titled debut, which surfaced in April and reached No. 8 on The Billboard 200. So far, the album has spawned mainstream- and modern-rock singles "You Wouldn't Know," "Alcohaulin' Ass" and "Thank You," which honors the bandmates' recently departed family members: Paul's late brother and Pantera/Damageplan guitarist Dimebag Darrell, Maxwell's mother and Gray's grandmother.

"It's a very emotional track for anyone who's been through a crazy loss," Gray said in a statement last year. "Dime was brutally murdered. I watched my grandmother, who was this thriving, full-of-life soul, get whittled down to nothing because of cancer. I just felt we owed a big thank you to all of them."

The singles and a couple of other tracks from the album are streaming at Hellyeah's MySpace page.

In November, the band also released its first DVD, "Below the Belt," which includes live performances, music videos, interviews, snippets of recording sessions and backstage footage from Hellyeah's world tour.
