Allman Brothers Band continues annual New York rite

Legendary Southern rockers The Allman Brothers Band will continue their tradition of playing a multi-night engagement at New York's Beacon Theatre this spring.

The band has lined up 15 shows at the historic venue starting May 5 and running through May 24. Tickets--which go on sale Feb. 9 to the general public--will be priced at $149.99, $99.99 and $59.99, with the first ten rows of each show being sold exclusively through Ticketmaster's website or charge-by-phone service. (Ticketmaster is LiveDaily's parent company.)

The band began its Beacon Theatre tradition in 1989 and has performed there more than 175 times since, according to a press release.

The Allmans' lineup for the New York gigs will include Gregg Allman (vocals, keyboards), Butch Trucks (drums, tympani), Jaimoe (drums), Warren Haynes, (vocals, lead and slide guitar), Derek Trucks (slide and lead guitar), Oteil Burbridge (bass) and Marc Quinones (congas, percussion).

The Allman Brothers Band released its self-titled debut in 1969, achieving breakthrough success with the 1971 live document "At Fillmore East" and its part-live follow-up, 1972's "Eat a Peach," which was completed in the wake of the tragic death-via-motorcycle-accident of the band's original lead guitarist, Duane Allman.

The group's most recent full-length release was 2003's "Hittin' the Note," which marked the first new studio material from the band in nine years.
