Rockstar Energy Mayhem Festival debuts this summer
Though the lineup has yet to be announced, Billboard is reporting that Slipknot and Disturbed will top the bill. Other bands rumored to be taking part include Five Finger Death Punch, Sevendust, Mastodon, Dragonforce, Suicide Silence and Walls of Jericho, according to reports. The official lineup is expected in the coming days.
The festival, sponsored by Rockstar Energy Drink, is a partnership between promotions giant Live Nation and the founders of the Vans Warped Tour and Rockstar Taste of Chaos tour. In addition to giving rock fans a reason to bang their heads, the event will look to develop new acts while offering concertgoers an affordable day of entertainment.
"Live Nation understands how important it is for us to engage the music fan and provide them with a fantastic entertainment experience at our shows," Warped Tour founder Kevin Lyman said in a statement. "It was also very important to us to create an atmosphere that allows career advancement for new artists, and this partnership ensures artist development opportunities for a multitude of new artists for a reasonable price for fans."
Lyman has some experience in the field, as his Warped Tour is entering its 14th year. That event is commonly viewed as the model for successful traveling music festivals.
