Eagles tack on more shows
The Eagles , who last week announced plans for a 2008 tour that would include a one-off show in the Atlanta area, have expanded that engagement into a three-night stand.
The group is now set to christen Alpharetta, GA's new Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre with performances on May 14, 16 and 17, according to organizers, who said in a press release that the pair of new shows were added due to "overwhelming demand" for tickets, which went on sale Saturday (2/1).
Though no additional North American dates have yet been announced, the Eagles have tipped plans to launch the tour with a four-night stand at London's O2 arena on March 20, 22, 23 and 26.
Concertgoers can expect to see the Eagles--Glenn Frey, Don Henley, Joe Walsh and Timothy B. Schmit--play a mix of classics and material from their new album, "Long Road Out of Eden," which debuted at the top of The Billboard 200 in November after selling more than 711,000 copies its first week out. The 2-disc set, which was certified seven-times platinum earlier this month, marks the band's first collection of new material in 28 years.
"How Long," the first single from "Long Road Out of Eden," remains in the Top 10 at adult-contemporary radio after 22 weeks and is up for a Grammy Award in the Best Country Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals category.
On February 11, CMT will premiere a "60 Minutes" Eagles special that was created specifically for the cable channel, according to the Eagles' website.
The Eagles have sold more than 120 million albums worldwide, earning five No. 1 singles and four Grammy Awards, according to a press release. The veteran rockers' "Greatest Hits 1971-1975" is the best-selling album of all time in the US.
