Jackie Greene not 'Giving Up' on road life

Singer/songwriter Jackie Greene has lined up roadwork behind his forthcoming new album, as well as a few dates with Skinny Singers , his three-man side project.

The California-born singer/guitarist, who just finished a brief outing as part of Phil Lesh and Friends (Lesh inducted Greene as one of his official musical "Friends" last year), will kick off a short run with Skinny Singers (Greene, Mother Hips frontman Tim Bluhm and drummer Mike Curry) Feb. 7 in Sutter Creek, CA.

Later in the month, Greene will mount his own headlining run, starting with a Feb. 16 show in Stockton, CA. The tour will amble through parts of three months, hitting 11 cities through late April. All dates are included below.

Greene's latest album, "Giving Up the Ghost," is due in stores April 1. The set features guest appearances from Lesh, Bluhm, Los Lobos' David Hidalgo and multi-instrumentalist Larry Campbell," and marks Greene's first release on 429 Records.

Streaming samples of the set's first single, "Shaken," as well as several other cuts from the new album, are available at Greene's website.

Greene appeared Monday (2/4) in San Francisco with Lesh and former Grateful Dead members Bob Weir and Mickey Hart at a get-out-the-vote concert for Barack Obama ahead of the Super Tuesday primaries.

Greene is next scheduled to appear with Lesh at this year's June 12-15 Bonnaroo festival in Manchester, TN.
