Roger Waters lines up more 'Dark Side' shows
Pink Floyd co-founder Roger Waters is adding a handful of new US and European dates to his two-year-old "Dark Side of the Moon" tour.
The singer/songwriter had already announced he would headline the April 27 bill of the Coachella music festival in Indio, CA. The new US dates (shown below)_will bring him to Denver (4/30), Dallas (5/2) and Houston (5/4) before he heads overseas for shows in Denmark and The Netherlands.
Tickets for the Denver and Houston shows go on sale Feb. 9, with the Dallas show going public Feb. 16. Check Waters' website for full information on the European dates.
Waters will be touring with essentially the same act he's had on the road for the last two years, featuring two full sets plus encores, "with state-of-the-art staging, lighting and sound," according to his record label, Columbia.
The first set features selections from throughout the singer's career, including various songs from his Pink Floyd days as well as material from his most recent solo album, 1992's "Amused to Death."
The second set will feature Waters and a full band performing Pink Floyd's "Dark Side of the Moon" from start to finish. The album was issued in 1973, and remained on The Billboard 200 album chart for a record-breaking 15 years.
Waters told radio DJ Jim Ladd in 2005 that he was working on a pair of solo albums, one with the working title of "Heartland," and a second album that deals with love as its central theme.
The singer collaborated with composer Howard Shore on the song "Hello (I Love You)" for the 2007 film "The Last Mimzy." The song plays over the closing credits of the film, which features an ensemble cast that includes Timothy Hutton, Joely Richardson, Rainn Wilson, Michael Clarke Duncan and others.
"I think together we've come up with a song that captures the themes of the movie--the clash between humanity's best and worst instincts, and how a child's innocence can win the day," Waters said in a press release at the time of the movie's opening.
