Dave Matthews Band, Widespread Panic lead inaugural Rothbury lineup
The four-day outdoor festival, set for July 3-6 at Rothbury, MI's Double JJ Ranch (which offers "trails, forests, fields, lakes and beach fronts, and even on-site lodging, bars and eateries," according to the event's promoters) features an eclectic roster of entertainment, ranging from jam bands (Sound Tribe Sector 9 , Phil Lesh & Friends) to avant-garde pop acts (Of Montreal , The Dresden Dolls ) and southern rockers (Drive-By Truckers , Gov't Mule ).
The current confirmed lineup, which is detailed at the end of this article, also includes 311, Modest Mouse, John Mayer, Primus, Thievery Corporation, and Michael Franti and Spearhead, among many others. Promoters expect to add more names to the list in coming months.
Tickets for the festival go on sale Feb. 27 through the event's website.
The festival's stated goal centers on raising awareness of climate change and clean energy alternatives, according to a press release. Toward that end, the event will host a think tank and energy fair during the festival's proceedings.
The think tank will be hosted by Stanford professor Dr. Stephen H. Schneider and will feature a number of noted experts on alternative energy, while the energy fair will allow attendees to "engage hands-on with cutting edge, sustainable technology and products," according to Rothbury organizers.
Rothbury will also showcase sustainable practices during the event, including "recycling and composting, choosing clean energy, carbon-offsetting, and Green Ticket options."
