Iron Maiden unfurls more US shows
Currently in the midst of a recently launched world tour, British metal veterans Iron Maiden will turn their attention to the US this spring.
The group has rolled out details for eight shows that run from late May through early June, all of which are set in the western half of the country.
"We are all greatly looking forward to getting back to see our fans in places like Texas, the Soutwest and Seattle where we haven't played for quite some time," Maiden frontman Bruce Dickinson said in a prepared statement. "... We are all having a great time on this tour and really can't believe the excitement it is creating round the world and the huge numbers of people who are turning out to see us. It makes for a really very exciting time for all of us, fans and band alike."
The spring outing follows a couple of one-off winter shows in the US, the first of which took place Tuesday (2/19) at the Los Angeles area's Great Western Forum. During that gig, Iron Maiden announced from the stage its plans for the lengthier US run, which will include back-to-back shows at Irvine, CA's Verizon Wireless Amphitheater on May 30 and May 31, according to a press release.
Before tackling the spring roadtrip, the group will play a trio of previously announced February dates in Mexico, as well as a pair of previously announced March dates in East Rutherford, NJ, and Toronto, Ontario. Details for all of the upcoming shows are shown below, including ticket on-sale dates for the newly announced spring trek; info about the band's overseas shows is available at the group's website.
Dubbed the "Somewhere Back in Time" tour, Maiden's latest outing finds the band focusing on material from its '80s catalog. The group is also backing its latest release, last year's "A Matter of Life and Death," which topped out at No. 9 in the US on The Billboard 200 chart, and sold 220,000 copies worldwide upon its release, according to the band's label.
