Jimmy Buffett's 'Still Here,' tour dates ahead
With summer right around the corner, Parrotheads are no doubt getting antsy for their live Jimmy Buffett shows.
Indeed, Buffett and his Coral Reefer Band have announced their first concerts of "The Year of Still Here" tour and will even treat fans to a couple of springtime shows. So far, they've got an April date in the Dallas area, a May gig at the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival and June/July shows in Philadelphia and East Troy, WI, as well as a two-night stand at Toyota Park in Bridgeview, IL. Details are listed below.
Buffett continues to support his latest studio album, 2006's country-leaning "Take the Weather With You," which became his second consecutive No. 1 debut on Billboard's Country Albums chart. He also put out a couple of live recordings last year: November's "Live in Anguilla," which captures two recent shows on the Caribbean island, and April's "Live at Texas Stadium," which revisits Buffett's 2004 Dallas concert with Alan Jackson and George Strait.
When America's favorite beach bum isn't making music, he stays busy with his growing stable of restaurants. Construction is getting ready to start on his first Waikiki, HI, eatery, Jimmy Buffett's at the Beachcomber, which is slated to open late this year, according to a press release.
Last summer, the performer announced his foray into the casino biz, partnering with Harrahs Entertainment to build the Margaritaville Casino & Resort in Biloxi, MS. The facility, estimated to cost $700 million, is expected to house 798 rooms, a full-service spa and an island-themed pool area, according to a press release.
Meanwhile, Buffett, who also holds the title of bestselling author, is getting ready to release his next literary work in May. "Swine Not?" is a humorous tale based on the true story of a friend who moved a pig into her Manhattan residence.
