Bun B busts out "II Trill" on upcoming run
Underground rapper Bernard Freeman--better known as Bun B --is headed back out for a road push behind his new studio set, "II Trill," which is due in April.
The Texas rapper, who was one half of southern hip-hop act UGK (along with the late Pimp C), continues the ongoing run tonight (2/29) in Fayetteville, NC.
The outing, sponsored in part by Microsoft's Zune music player, will include several appearances at Boys & Girls Clubs around the country as part of the rapper's focus on "making a more direct connection with his fans," according to a press release. Bun has a Zune Social website set up where fans can track his tour progress.
All of Bun B's currently scheduled dates are included below.
"II Trill," due April 29, follows Bun's debut solo album, 2005's "Trill." The set boasts an impressive roster of guest artists, including contributions from Lupe Fiasco, Mya, Lil' Wayne, David Banner and Rick Ross, among others.
The album's first single, the JT Rotem-produced "That's Gangsta," featuring Jamaican rapper Sean Kingston, is currently in rotation on urban radio.
Freeman and Pimp C (Chad Butler) formed the "Dirty South"-associated UGK in the late '80s, debuting with 1988's "The Southern Way" and eventually releasing seven studio albums, including last year's oft-delayed "UGK (Underground Kingz)," which stands as the outfit's final studio effort following Butler's death last December in West Hollywood, CA. The death was ruled an accidental drug overdose by the Los Angeles County Coroner's Office.
