P.O.D. previews new album on Hard Rock tour
Rockers P.O.D. are back with their original lineup, a new record label, a new album on the way and a slate of intimate live performances across the US.
The band will preview material from its forthcoming album, "When Angels and Serpents Dance," during a tour of Hard Rock Cafe venues that is part of a month-long charity drive for Musicians on Call. P.O.D. will also stop by a couple of House of Blues clubs during the coast-to-coast outing, which is set to kick off March 25 in Hollywood, CA, and wrap April 7 in the quartet's hometown of San Diego.
The band approached its latest material with a renewed vigor thanks to the return of original P.O.D. guitarist Marcos Curiel, who left the platinum-selling group in 2003.
"Things are exciting again," frontman Sonny Sandoval said in a statement. "When the four of us are in a room making music, it's definitely right and Marcos brings that passion for music into the band."
Curiel added that it's great to give P.O.D. another whirl.
"This band is a supernatural experience to me!" he said. "It has literally surpassed many of my vivid dreams. ... I'm blessed and excited to reconnect with family and friends. I hope to pursue and establish the passion that began in 1992 with four brothers who just followed God, dreams and our music."
"When Angels and Serpents Dance," P.O.D.'s debut on Columbia Records, is scheduled to hit stores April 8. The set, produced by Jay Baumgardner (Evanescence), includes guest performances by Helmet's Page Hamilton, Suicidal Tendencies' Mike Muir, the Marley Sisters and a gospel choir. Lead single "Addicted" and the title track are streaming at P.O.D.'s MySpace page.
The forthcoming record follows two 2006 releases: "Testify," which landed at No. 9 on The Billboard 200, and "Greatest Hits (The Atlantic Years)."
The members of P.O.D. plan to launch a full-fledged tour after the new album drops, according to their website. Fans can also catch the band on Rockline Radio April 7 and on NBC-TV's "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" April 8.
