Foo Fighters plot first leg of summer trek
The Foo Fighters have rolled out the first set of dates for their upcoming summer tour as the band continues to back its multiple Grammy-winning set from last year.
Currently in the midst of a long winter/spring run that continues Wednesday night (3/5) in Los Angeles, the group has revealed a partial summer schedule that kicks off July 9 in Seattle and currently includes visits to five cities. The full itinerary is shown below.
The Foo Fighters scored five Grammy nods in December for their sixth studio effort, "Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace," which surfaced in September, claiming wins at last month's 50th annual awards ceremony for Best Rock Album and Best Hard Rock Performance for the album's first single, "The Pretender."
The song spent a record 18 weeks at the top of Billboard's Alternative/Modern Rock chart, with the second single, "Long Road to Ruin," also reaching the top of the modern rock pile.
"Echoes" follows the Foo Fighters' 2005 platinum-selling double-album, "In Your Honor," which spawned the No. 1 mainstream- and modern-rock hit "Best of You" and led to the band's biggest-selling tour to date, according to a press release. The new set reunites the band with Gil Norton (Pixies, Counting Crows), who also handled production work on the group's highly regarded 1997 debut as a full band (rather than a Dave Grohl solo project), "The Colour and the Shape."
