George Strait swaps venues for upcoming tour date
George Strait announced that he'll move one of his upcoming shows from an outdoor arena to a nearby indoor venue to accommodate his usual "in the round"-style performance.
The country star's March 29 performance, originally scheduled for the outdoor Home Depot Center in Carson, CA, will now take place at the Honda Center in Anaheim. The new start time for the show is 8 p.m., and ticket-holders who purchased seats via phone or over the Internet will be notified individually of the change and given the opportunity to purchase "comparable" seats at the new location, according to a press release.
Fans who purchased their tickets in person at a box office or ticket outlet can exchange them at their point of purchase beginning March 12.
Strait also has added a March 28 date in Oakland, CA, to his current tour. The entertainer has five dates currently lined up through early April, including next month's make-up dates for shows he was forced to postpone in January due to a case of laryngitis. The singer's complete itinerary is included below.
Strait's latest release is "22 More Hits," which comprises 22 songs that reached hit status, but failed to top the country charts. He released the multi-platinum "50 Number Ones," comprised of chart-topping hits, in 2004.
Last week Strait grabbed three Academy of Country Music nominations, including one for Entertainer of the Year, the 10th time he's been nominated in the category. He was also recognized for Top Male Vocalist (his 18th nod) and for Vocal Event of the Year for his collaboration with Kenny Chesney on "Shiftwork." Strait has been nominated for and ACM award 70 times in his career, according to his website.
