Willie Nelson tours into 'Forever'
Willie Nelson 's tour bus will be rolling well into fall, as the hard-charging country legend has added more than 30 US dates to his already-busy itinerary.
Nelson will finish out this month with a half-dozen shows in his native Texas, as well as gigs in Virginia and North Carolina, before he takes off for a European jaunt in April and May. He'll resume his US tour with a June 13 performance at Manchester, TN's Bonnaroo Music Festival, and then make another trip across the country. The outing currently stretches into September, when the Red-Headed Stranger has a host of dates scheduled in California. American shows are listed below and those overseas can be found at Nelson's website.
The Grammy-winning performer, who turns 75 next month, continues to churn out album after album, the latest one being January's "Moment of Forever." The Kenny Chesney-produced set features a few Nelson originals and a couple of Chesney-penned tracks alongside interpretations of songs by Kris Kristofferson, Bob Dylan, Randy Newman and others. The video for the lead single, a rendition of Dave Matthews' "Gravedigger," is streaming at Nelson's website.
"Moment of Forever" follows Nelson's recent collaboration with big-band singer/pro-golfer Don Cherry. Released in early October, "It's Magic" comprises 12 classics, including "What a Wonderful World," "You've Changed" and the title track.
Last March saw the release of the two-disc set "Last of the Breed," which teamed Nelson with fellow Country Music Hall of Famers Merle Haggard and Ray Price. That album spawned the Nelson/Price duet "Lost Highway," which scored a Grammy nomination for Best Country Collaboration with Vocals.
Nelson's busy 2007 was topped off with the BMI Icon honor, which was bestowed upon him at the performing-rights organization's annual country awards ceremony in November.
