Rilo Kiley preps North American trek
Pop-rockers Rilo Kiley have assembled another round of North American tour dates to support their latest release, "Under the Black Light."
The outing, which rolls out April 17 in San Francisco, will see the band headlining clubs and theaters across the US through mid-June, as well as a May 28 gig in Toronto. Rilo Kiley will also be on hand for Indio, CA's Coachella Festival and Manchester, TN's Bonnaroo fest. Details are listed below.
"Under the Black Light," the Los Angeles-based group's fourth full-length album and first for Warner Bros. Records, surfaced in August and reached No. 22 on The Billboard 200. The record came following an 18-month hiatus, during which time lead singer Jenny Lewis released her debut solo album, singer/guitarist Blake Sennett released a second album with The Elected, and drummer Jason Boesel recorded with Bright Eyes.
The new set mixes elements of rock, dance, soul and classic country with lyrical motifs that are said to depict the seedier side of Los Angles life. Lead single "The Moneymaker" and a couple of other tracks are streaming at Rilo Kiley's MySpace page.
"Under the Black Light" follows 2004's "More Adventurous," which ended up on many annual "best of" lists and earned Rilo Kiley an opening slot on Coldplay's 2005 arena tour.
