Van Halen unveils makeup dates
As promised, the group plans to resume its roadwork with an April 19 headlining performance in Las Vegas as part of Tiger Woods' annual Tiger Jam charity event, and 20 dates are lined up through early June. Details are included below. All tickets for the originally scheduled performances will be honored on the makeup dates, according to the tour's promoter, Live Nation.
Late last month, Van Halen postponed a handful of shows without explanation, then subsequently announced it had pulled the plug on all shows through April 19 so that guitarist Eddie Van Halen could undergo "medical tests to define a course of treatment" for an undisclosed ailment, according to a press release issued at the time. The group has not made public any information about what prompted the medical attention in the first place.
Eddie Van Halen has, in recent years, been treated for cancer, alcoholism and substance abuse.
Van Halen hit the road last fall with frontman David Lee Roth at the helm for the first time in more than two decades. The outing ended up being one of 2007's Top 5 highest-grossing tours, prompting the group to book a new leg of shows that kicked off in late January.
