Soulja Boy headlines spring tour
After earning his stripes on last year's "Up Close & Personal Tour" with Chris Brown and Bow Wow, Soulja Boy said he wanted to continue to give fans "a tour with the hottest young stars in music," according to a press release. He'll bring Lil Mama, V.I.C. and Tiffany Evans along for the ride.
The performers will make a round trip from the East Coast to the West Coast and back, starting April 11 in Myrtle Beach, SC, and wrapping May 11 in Soulja Boy's hometown of Atlanta. The itinerary, which currently spans 20 cities, is listed below.
At age 17, Soulja Boy has already made a name for himself as a gold-selling artist, producer and businessman. He used the Internet to distribute his music and build his own hefty fanbase before signing to Interscope Records last year. His major-label debut, "souljaboytellum.com," surfaced in October, reached No. 4 on The Billboard 200 and became the best-selling debut album for a hip-hop artist in 2007, according to a press release.
Soulja Boy's Grammy-nominated rap-radio anthem, "Crank Dat Soulja Boy (Superman)," is included on the set, along with rap/R&B/hip-hop hits "Soulja Girl" and "YAHHH!" Samples of those songs are streaming at Soulja Boy's MySpace page.
