Chris Isaak assembles summer jaunt
The retro-rocker has a lone May date in West Wendover, NV, before he skips into July, when he'll play a host of shows along the West Coast, including a two-night stand with the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra in Hollywood, and three nights at Saratoga, CA's Mountain Winery. Isaak's current itinerary shows him ending up on the East Coast in late August. Details are listed below.
The singer/songwriter/guitarist continues to back his 2006 release, "Best of Chris Isaak," which includes an audio CD with 14 remastered hits, three new songs and an acoustic rendition of "Forever Blue," along with a DVD comprising 18 music videos and a commentary from the man himself.
The collection covers the many different musical personas Isaak has taken on during his two-decade career, including rockabilly rebel, brokenhearted crooner and acoustic storyteller. Several songs from the set, including new tune "King Without a Castle," are streaming at Isaak's website.
The performer, who spent a few years focusing on his acting career, released his last new, non-seasonal studio album, "Always Got Tonight," in 2002. That was followed by 2004's "Chris Isaak Christmas," which features 11 traditional songs and five originals.
Over the course of his career, Isaak has released nine albums, scored two Grammy nominations, acted in several motion pictures and starred in his own TV series on Showtime.
The singer broke into the mainstream in the early '90s, when his song "Wicked Game" was used in the film "Wild at Heart" and made it into the Top 5 at modern-rock radio. The steamy, Herb Ritts-directed video, featuring Isaak rolling around on the beach with supermodel Helena Christensen, bolstered the attention.
