Ween returns to the road in search of 'Friends'
The Ween "brothers"--a.k.a. Mickey Melchiondo and Aaron Freeman--and their touring companions will kick off the run July 7 in Milvale, PA, just across the Allegheny River from Pittsburgh. The nine-city outing runs through a July 20 performance in Council Bluffs, IA. Dates are below.
"La Cucaracha," the duo's latest studio album and first for the Rounder label, hit stores in October. The disc is the band's first full-length release since 2003's "Quebec."
The set was recorded "in a rented, moldy 200-year-old farmhouse in our hometown of New Hope, PA," according to Dean Ween (Melchiondo), who labeled it in a press statement "a party record, unlike our last record which was more of a Jonestown type party vibe. This record is a lot more fun because that's where we're at right now."
A re-release of last year's limited edition "Friends" EP is also due in stores May 13. The set contains four original songs, plus the title song, which is a remix of the "Cucaracha" version. The disc was originally available only through the group's website.
"Ween have recorded a lot of new material the past year and we wanted to give you an appetizer for the summer," Dean Ween said in a press release. "It is the ultimate party record, filled with good beats and good times."
