Robyn dances across the US
The singer, who is scheduled to mount an Australian tour later this week, will wind her way to America in late April for a 10-date trek that stretches from Boston to Los Angeles, and includes stops in Montreal and Toronto. June will find Robyn playing a week's worth of dates in the UK and she'll be back in the US in August for New Jersey's All Points West Music & Arts Festival. North American shows are listed below and those overseas can be found at her website.
In late January, Robyn put out the five-song EP "Rakamonie," and she'll follow that up with the April 29 US release of her full-length, self-titled album. A couple of songs from the set, "Handle Me" and "With Every Heartbeat," are currently making waves on Billboard's Hot Dance Airplay and Hot Dance Club Play charts. The video for the album's lead single, "Be Mine," is streaming at Robyn's MySpace page.
The 28-year-old singer/songwriter is best known in the US for her late '90s dance-pop hits "Show Me Love" and "Do You Know (What it Takes)." She's already an industry veteran, having been discovered at age 13 by Swedish pop singer Meja, who found Robyn singing a sad, self-written song about her parents' divorce in a school workshop.
Robyn has since waded through a couple of major-label record deals, and suffered the disillusionment of losing artistic control. A few years ago, she bought herself out of her label deal and started her own company, Konichiwa Records.
