The Hives buzz back to America
The Swedish garage rockers, who are currently touring Europe, will cross the Pond once again for nearly a dozen shows beginning May 15 in Atlanta. They'll stop by clubs and theaters across the US and Canada, and wrap with a May 26 Sasquatch Festival performance at George, WA's Gorge Amphitheatre. Details are listed below.
The band's ongoing world tour supports its fourth studio set, "The Black & White Album," which hit US shores in October and climbed to No. 65 on The Billboard 200. So far, the record has spawned modern-rock hit "Tick Tick Boom," which was featured in a Nike commercial. A sample of that track and a few others from the record are streaming at The Hives' MySpace page.
"The Black & White Album" was co-produced by hip-hop mogul Pharell Williams, who added a new element to The Hives' music.
"The record actually has bass," frontman Howlin' Pelle Almqvist said in a statement. "It has a bass register, which we really never wanted on our records before. But you should do it at least once, and now is the time!"
The set follows 2004's "Tyrannosaurus Hives," which spawned mainstream- and modern-rock hit "Walk Idiot Walk."
The Hives broke through to US audiences in 2001, due in large part to their raucous live shows. The rockers' 2002 album, "Veni Vidi Vicious," produced their biggest hit to date, "Hate To Say I Told You So."
