311, Snoop Dogg co-headline Unity Tour
The outing is set to kick off June 24 in Phoenix and travel from the West Coast to the East Coast, with a two-night finale Aug. 2-3 in Austin, TX. Special guest Fiction Plane will open the shows, which will be held primarily in amphitheaters. Details are listed below.
311 is just about to wrap its spring jaunt, which included the band's biggest annual event, "3-11 Day," in New Orleans. The festival drew 14,000 fans from all 50 states and 13 countries for five hours of music, according to the group's website.
During their break from the road, the members of 311 will work on their ninth studio album and they'll likely preview some of the new material during the Unity Tour, singer/guitarist Nick Hexum told LiveDaily in a recent interview.
The forthcoming set will follow 2005's "Don't Tread on Me," which scored a modern-rock hit with the title track.
Snoop Dogg broke into the Top 3 on The Billboard 200 a couple of weeks ago with his ninth solo studio album, "Ego Trippin'." The lead single, "Sexual Eruption," has been a hit at radio formats including pop, R&B/hip-hop and dance. A sample of that song and a few others from the record are streaming at Snoop's MySpace page.
