Eminem Loses Top U.K. Album Spot But Secures Top Singles Position
Former Verve frontman Richard Ashcroft 's first solo album "Alone With Everybody" debuted in the Official U.K. Album Chart at No. 1 on Sunday (7/2), bumping rapper Eminem 's "The Marshall Mathers LP" down one spot to No. 2.
Moby 's album "Play", which has been certified triple platinum in the U.K., also fell one place to #3 as S Club 7's second album "7" dropped from No. 2 to No. 5 and Tom Jones's "Reload" fell two places to No. 6.
Welsh singer-songwriter David Gray 's L.P. "White Ladder" climbed three places to No. 4 and Santana's "Supernatural" jumped six places from No. 10 to No. 16.
Other Americans on the way down included Whitney Houston's "Greatest Hits" which dropped one knotch to No. 7, Britney Spear's "Oops! I Did It Again" which slipped three places to No. 14 and Bon Jovi's "Crush" which slid eight places to No. 25.
New entries included Badly Drawn Boy with "The Hour Of Bewilderbeast" at No. 13 and the re-entry of ZZ Top's "Eliminator" at No. 28.
Although he slipped from the No. 1 position in the album chart, Eminem's latest single "The Real Slim Shady" debuted at No. 1 in the Official U.K. Singles Chart, with Irish teenager Samantha Mumba's "Gotta Tell You" as the second highest entry of the week at No. 2. Meanwhile Australian pop singer Kylie Minogue's latest E.P. "Spinning Around" fell two places to No. 3 after one week in the charts.
Other new Top 10 entries this week included indie band Coldplay at No. 4 with "Yellow", Vengaboys in at No. 6 with "Uncle John From Jamaica" and Lonyo in at No. 8 with "Summer Of Love". Wu Tang Clan leader Ol' Dirty Bastard feat Kelis also entered the chart at No. 11 with "Got Your Money" and Blink 182's single "What's My Age Again" debuted at No. 17.
Meanwhile, former No. 1 entries Black Legend's "You See The Trouble With Me" fell five places to No. 7 and Sonique's "It Feels So Good" fell six places to No. 10.
