Linkin Park announces Projekt Revolution lineup
Linkin Park will headline its annual Projekt Revolution tour this summer with help from Chris Cornell , The Bravery and Ashes Divide , the band has revealed.
The three names top the list of support acts that the California alt-rockers have assembled for the fifth incarnation of the concert tour, which returns in 2008 for the second straight year after taking a two-year hiatus following the 2004 version of the event.
The tour, which kicks off July 16 at suburban Boston's Tweeter Center, will also sport a second stage, dubbed the Revolution Stage, that will feature metal outfits Atreyu and 10 Years joining emo-rockers Hawthorne Heights and Armor For Sleep.
"We started Projekt Revolution six years ago and have been lucky to have toured with some great bands," said Linkin Park co-frontman Chester Bennington in a press statement. "This year, however, might just be the best lineup yet. We're looking forward to taking this show on the road and bringing great music to the masses."
One dollar from every ticket sold on the tour will go to the Music for Relief charity to support disaster relief and reduce global warming, according to a press release. Linkin Park took a break from its recent headlining tour in February and traveled to New Orleans to help build homes with Habitat For Humanity for families affected by Hurricane Katrina, according to the band's publicist.
Linkin Park is supporting is third album, "Minutes to Midnight," which debuted at the top of The Billboard 200 last May and has since reached double-platinum status. The set has spawned the No. 1 mainstream- and modern-rock hit "What I've Done," as well as Top 5 rock singles "Bleed It Out" and "Shadow of the Day."
