Stone Temple Pilots announce reunion tour

Stone Temple Pilots ' summer dates have turned into a full-blown reunion tour spanning 65 cities across North America.
The grunge-rockers announced the trek yesterday (4/7) at an exclusive launch event in Los Angeles, during which they performed together publicly for the first time in nearly six years.
The initial round of dates is set to kick off May 17, when STP headlines the Rock on the Range Festival in Columbus, OH, and, from there, the band will visit a variety of venues and festivals across the US and Canada through the end of August. Details are listed below. The second half of the tour will be announced via STP's website in the coming weeks, according to a press release.
In conjunction with the outing, Stone Temple Pilots have launched a new website and official fan-club program that gives members exclusive access to presale tickets and VIP packages.
The members of STP--frontman Scott Weiland, guitarist Dean DeLeo, bassist Robert DeLeo and drummer Eric Kretz--formed the band in 1992, recorded five studio albums and went on to sell more than 35 million copies worldwide, according to a press release.
The Grammy-winning rockers parted ways after completing a tour behind 2001's "Shangri-La Dee Da," which is their most recent studio album. A best-of set titled "Thank You" followed in 2003.
While Weiland went on to join Velvet Revolver, the DeLeo brothers co-founded rock quartet Army of Anyone with Filter frontman Richard Patrick and former David Lee Roth Band drummer Ray Luzier. That band released its self-titled debut in late 2006, but has since slipped into hibernation.
Weiland and the other members of Velvet Revolver parted ways last week amid a volley of acrimonious press releases.
