Leonard Cohen to stage first tour in 15 years
Veteran singer/songwriter Leonard Cohen will launch his first tour in 15 years next month with a round of dates in the Canadian performer's native country.
The recently inducted Rock and Roll Hall of Famer will kick off the run May 11 in Fredericton, New Brunswick, with multiple nights in many locations during the May/June outing, including a five-night engagement (4/12-13, 15-17) in Halifax, Nova Scotia. All of Cohen's Canadian dates are included below.
In addition to the North American shows, Cohen will hit European venues in June and July. The singer's overseas schedule can be found at his website.
Cohen will be backed on the trek by a full band that includes bassist Roscoe Beck, keyboardist/multi-instrumentalist Neil Larsen, guitarists Bob Metzger and Javier Mas, stringed instrumentalist Christine Wu, drummer Rafael Gayol and multi-instrumentalist Dino Soldo.
Cohen's most recent studio album is 2004's "Dear Heather," a collaboration with his girlfriend, jazz singer Anjani Thomas, who shared co-production credits for the disc. The pair returned with a similar effort, "Blue Alert," in 2006, with Thomas singing and Cohen producing and writing the album's lyrics.
Cohen was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in March, with the Hall recognizing his status among "the highest and most influential echelon of songwriters," according to a press release.
