Neil Diamond reveals tour plans
Following a five-week tour of Europe, Diamond will launch his American jaunt July 19 in St. Paul, MN, and play a host of arenas through late October. The itinerary includes two-night stands at New York City's Madison Square Garden and California's Hollywood Bowl. Details are listed below.
Earlier this month, Diamond announced the tour via a surprise, televised appearance at the Boston Red Sox season opener at Fenway Park. During the traditional eighth-inning sing-a-long of his classic song "Sweet Caroline," the performer appeared on the big-screen, telling fans he would play live at the historic ballpark Aug. 23.
Tickets for the tour will go on sale in select markets beginning April 28, and pre-sale opportunities will be offered to American Express card members. VIP packages will be available at the ILoveAllAccess website.
On the road, Diamond will break out classic hits from his massive catalog and perform new songs from "Home Before Dark," which is scheduled to hit stores May 6.
The new set, which follows 2005's "12 Songs," was written by Diamond and marks his second collaboration with renowned producer Rick Rubin (Johnny Cash, Mick Jagger). Highlights include a duet with the Dixie Chicks' Natalie Maines ("Another Day (That Time Forgot)") and the lead single, "Pretty Amazing Grace," which is streaming at Diamond's website.
In addition to the standard version, the album will be offered as a deluxe edition including two bonus tracks and a DVD with rare footage of Diamond in the studio, according to a press release.
During his four-decade career, Diamond has sold 125 million records worldwide and scored 36 Top 40 hits, a Grammy and a Golden Globe.
