Allman Brothers move NYC residency to next year
The Allman Brothers Band plans to reschedule its annual Beacon Theatre residency in New York City for early 2009.
Last month, the group announced that its 15-show run at the venue, originally set to take place in May, would have to be put on hold while founding member and lead vocalist Gregg Allman continues to recover from Hepatitis C treatments.
"I'm getting better but I'm still tired," Allman said in a statement. "I need to be at 110 percent to do the shows the way we do them. I can't tell you how much I appreciate the support and understanding my Brothers and our fans have given me."
Tickets purchased through Ticketmaster (LiveDaily's parent company) will be refunded automatically, and all others will be refunded at the point of purchase. Information about tickets for the rescheduled shows will be announced early next year.
The Allman Brothers Band began its Beacon Theatre tradition in 1989 and has since performed at the venue more than 175 times, according to a press release.
Though the residency is postponed, the Rock and Roll Hall of Famers plan to resume their touring schedule in August with special guest Bob Weir & Rat Dog. So far, a few dates are lined up in New Jersey and Massachusetts, and shows in upstate New York, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Illinois and Colorado are expected to be confirmed soon, according to a press release. An updated itinerary is listed below.
Meanwhile, the Allman Brothers are already planning some special performances for next year, when they'll commemorate their 40th anniversary.
