The Black Keys 'Attack' road with new summer dates
The Ohio blues-rock duo--guitarist/vocalist Dan Auerbach and drummer Patrick Carney--will finish up a short May run, kicking off May 12 in Washington, DC, before heading off for a number of shows in Europe and Australia this summer.
The band returns home in July for a few festival appearances and a short run of headlining dates following its Aug. 1 slot at Chicago's Lollapalooza. All North American dates are below; consult the group's website for the complete overseas schedule.
"Attack & Release," the band's fifth studio album and second for Nonesuch Records, hit stores April 1. The set was produced by Gnarls Barkley's Danger Mouse, and features guest appearances from guitarist Marc Ribot and multi-instrumentalist Ralph Carney (Patrick Carney's uncle), both of whom have spent time in Tom Waits' band. The album also features vocal contributions on the closing track from 18-year-old bluegrass singer Jessica Lea Mayfield.
The set--which debuted at No. 14 on The Billboard 200 album chart--follows 2006's "Magic Potion," which the pair self-produced in Carney's basement studio.
