A regrouped Boston heads out this summer
The outing is set to kick off June 6 with a headlining performance at the Thunder Bay, Ontario, stop of the Great Race 2008. Following the next night's gig in Winnipeg, Boston will cross over to the US for more than 40 shows from coast to coast through mid-August. Details are included below.
After the death last year of lead singer Brad Delp, Boston regrouped, enlisting veteran Stryper frontman Michael Sweet and MySpace phenomenon Tommy DeCarlo to take over vocal duties. DeCarlo, a huge fan of Boston, was discovered after posting covers of the band's songs on his MySpace page. The singers join band veterans Tom Scholz, Gary Pihl, Jeff Neal and Kimberley Dahme.
On the road, Boston will perform many of its classics, like "More Than a Feeling," "Peace of Mind," "Smokin," and "Rock & Roll Band," as well as fan favorites that have not been on the set list for many years, according to a posting at the group's website.
In conjunction with the tour, Boston will release a re-mastered "Greatest Hits" CD, which will include singles from all five of the band's albums, as well as photos from throughout the years and liner notes written by Scholz, Boston's guitarist, producer, songwriter and only original member.
The rockers released their latest studio album, "Corporate America," in 2002 and they haven't toured since 2004. They were planning a summer jaunt last year before Delp, 55, took his own life.
Boston exploded on the '70s rock scene with its self-titled album, which was the highest-selling debut of all time and went on to move more than 17 million copies, according to a press release.
