Veteran rocker Joan Jett [ tickets ] and her perennial backup band, The Blackhearts, will tackle a summer roadtrip that includes a June stretch with Cyndi Lauper's True Colors tour.

The singer/guitarist kicks off the outing with a May 2 appearance at Memphis, TN's Beale Street Music Festival before moving on to a May 21 headlining date in Santa Fe, NM.

As previously reported, Jett will appear on a few dates in June as part of the True Colors tour, along with Cyndi Lauper, The B-52s and others. Jett's participation in the trek is currently limited to mid-June dates in Houston, Dallas, Phoenix and Alpine, CA. Details are included below.

Jett's most recent studio album, 2006's "Sinner," was the performer's first release of all-original material since 1994's "Pure and Simple," itself a comeback effort following years of inactivity after Jett's initial salad days of MTV popularity in the early 1980's.

The new disc was released on the Blackheart label, founded by Jett and Kenny Laguna (who produced "Sinner") in 1981, after Jett had been rejected by 23 other labels, according to a press release.

Blackheart, which celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2006 by re-releasing the label's entire back catalog--including Jett's 1981 breakthrough, "Bad Reputation"--plans to release a dual CD/DVD greatest-hits package for Jett later this year.
