Spoon announces 'final dates' for 2008
The Texas band, which continues to back last year's "Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga," will kick off the rundown to its last 2008 shows with a June 13 appearance in Troutdale, OR, as part of the Pet Aid benefit concert with Presidents of the United States of America and Nada Surf.
In July, Spoon will play a pair of festivals: the July 19 Mile High Festival in Denver, followed by an appearance the following day at Chicago's Pitchfork Music Festival. The band will close out its 2008 schedule in September with a three-night stand in San Francisco beginning Sept. 22. Details are below.
"Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga," Spoon's sixth studio album and its follow-up to 2005's "Gimme Fiction," hit stores last July. A limited-edition version of the album that includes a bonus disc titled "Get Nice!" was released concurrently with the regular version. The bonus disc features a handful of instrumental songs, along with a few demos.
The album, which debuted at No. 10 on the Billboard 200 album chart, was named on many critic's year-end lists, including LiveDaily's aggregate tally, which crowned it the best album of 2007.
Last month, the band released the "Don't You Evah" EP, an 8-song set featuring the original version of the title track as recorded by New York indie rockers The Natural History, along with Spoon's cover, which appeared on "Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga," and five remixes of the cover version by various DJs. The EP also includes one new track: "All I Got Is Me."
