Everclear Prepares For Release Of New Album
Everclear is poised to embark on a series of high-profile appearances to mark next Tuesday’s (7/11) release of the group’s new album, “Songs from an American Movie, Volume One: Learning How to Smile” (Capitol/Parlorphone). The album is the first of two albums that the group plans to release this year.
Songwriter-singer-guitarist Art Alexakis, drummer Greg Eklund and bassist Craig Montoya will perform “Wonderful,” the first single from “Volume One,” on Monday (7/10) on “The Tonight Show.”
That appearance will be followed on Tuesday morning (7/11) with a live, three-song performance at a Burbank, Calif., 7-Eleven, a reference to the album’s release date. The performance will be broadcast on L.A.-area radio station KROQ.
Alexakis is also scheduled to appear as a guest on the television show “Politically Incorrect” on Friday, July 14, and the band is slated to perform an acoustic version of “Wonderful” on “The Late, Late Show With Craig Kilborn” on the following Friday (7/21).
Other events for the band include nationally-syndicated radio show appearances on “Modern Rock Live” on Sunday (7/9), “Rockline” on Monday (7/10) and “Loveline” on Thursday (7/13). The group is also scheduled to participate in an online chat on AOL on Monday (7/10).
"Songs from an American Movie, Volume One" is the follow-up to 1997's "So Much for the Afterglow" and promises to reveal the "softer-side" of the group's normally punk-inspired music, as evidenced by the first single, “Wonderful.” The single currently holds the No. 3. spot on Billboard’s Top 40 Modern Rock Tracks chart.
The album will be released in Britain on Aug. 7, followed by the Sept. 18 release of “Wonderful” as a single.
A release date for "Songs From An American Movie, Volume Two: Good Time for a Bad Attitude"-- the reportedly power-chord driven and harder of the two albums--has not been yet been confirmed, but a recent press release from the band indicates that a tour is expected after “Volume Two” is released this fall.
