Madonna ticket sales off to fast start
Tickets for Madonna 's "Sticky & Sweet Tour" are selling like hotcakes, prompting the superstar to add a third night at New York City's Madison Square Garden. That show also sold out quickly.
Maddy will head out in August for a month-long Europe run and then roll out US and Canadian dates Oct. 4 in East Rutherford, NJ. So far, she's got 17 North American arenas and stadiums on the books through late November. Additional dates, including a run through Mexico and South America, will be announced later, according to a press release. North American shows are listed below and those overseas can be found at Madonna's website.
The first round of tickets were offered up over the weekend, and sellouts were logged in New York City, Boston and Chicago, according to promoter Live Nation. Presales for the next set of shows start this week. There is a four-ticket limit per person for arena performances and a six-ticket limit for stadium events.
The world tour supports Madonna 's new release, "Hard Candy," which surfaced last month and became the Rock and Roll Hall of Famer's seventh No. 1 on The Billboard 200. The lead single, "4 Minutes" featuring Justin Timberlake, has reached the one-million mark in digital sales and remains in the Top 5 on the Pop 100 chart after eight weeks. The tune is streaming at Madonna's MySpace page.
The followup single, "Give It 2 Me," has also been making waves on the pop charts over the last couple of weeks.
"Hard Candy" marks Maddy's 11th and final studio album for Warner Bros. Records. Last year, the Grammy-winner signed an all-encompassing deal with Live Nation, putting her many music-industry ventures under one umbrella.
Madonna's previous album, 2005's "Confessions on a Dance Floor," sold more than 8.5 million copies and her 2006 outing to support the set became the highest-grossing concert tour of all time by a female artist, according to a press release.
