Janet Jackson delivers 'Discipline' on the road
Janet Jackson is planning to mount her first tour in seven years to support her latest hit album, "Discipline."
The superstar, who revealed the news yesterday (5/19) on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show," will launch her "Rock With U" world tour in September, starting with a North American run that kicks off in Vancouver, according to various reports. Stops are also planned in New York and Washington, DC. A full itinerary is expected shortly.
The singer, who turned 42 last week, said she hadn't planned to wait so long between road trips.
"I was supposed to go on tour with the last album," Jackson told the Associated Press, referring to her 2006 release, "20 Y.O." But she said her record label wanted her to wait for the new CD.
"We were actually in full-blown tour rehearsals at that point ... learning numbers, getting everything together, set designs," she said. "I had to kind of shut everything down and go into the studio."
"Discipline," Jackson's 10th studio set, debuted at the top of The Billboard 200 in March, making it her sixth album to do so. The video for the lead single, "Feedback," is streaming at her website.
The Grammy winner, who's known for wowing fans with heavy choreography and glitzy sets, has a few surprises up her sleeve for the upcoming tour.
"It will definitely be a big production but it will definitely also be something that I've never done before, that people have never seen from me before," Jackson told the Associated Press.
